Hot Spiced Apple Cider

Homemade spiced cider beats the packaged cider, hands down. It's also easy to pre-mix the spice mix so it's even easier to make this cider when you're in a hurry.

Single Serving

1 C. apple cider
1 tsp. brown sugar
1 small pinch orange peel
2 shakes cinnamon
2 shakes nutmeg
1 shake ground cloves
1 shake ground ginger

3-4 Servings

4 C. apple cider
4 tsp. brown sugar
1/4 tsp. orange peel
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/8 tsp. ground cloves
1/8 tsp. ground ginger

Single Serving

Pour cider into a microwave safe cup. Add remaining ingredients and stir until the sugar is dissolved.

Microwave on high for 1 min. Let the cider cool for a minute, then serve warm with ginger snaps or sliced apples.

Multiple Servings

Pour cider into a 1 qt. sauce pan. Add remaining ingredients and stir until the sugar is dissolved.

Turn heat on low to medium and let cider warm until it just begins to bubble, stirring frequently. Turn heat down to "warm" and let the cider barely simmer until you are ready to serve it. Serve warm cider with ginger snaps or sliced apples.
